Podiatry’s scope of practice is to diagnose, treat, operate, and prescribe medications for any disease, injury, deformity, or other condition of the foot and ankle. This includes surgery of the bones, muscles, and soft tissues for the correction of deficiencies and deformities. A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine is a licensed heath care professional specializing in all foot conditions from infancy to old age. The podiatrist is a physician and surgeon of the foot.
